HISTORICAL INFORMATION:

During 2002-2003, a group of persons, who were doing family research with the available resources at the original site of the Timmins Public Library, met with the President of the Société franco-ontarienne d’histoire et de généalogie (SFOHG) for the purpose of establishing a genealogical research centre in Timmins. Negotiations began with the Library representatives and the City of Timmins; however, it was necessary to wait for the construction of a new library building which was in the process of being finalized.

The Régionale de Timmins de la SFOHG, a not for profit organisation was founded in 2005, two years after receiving approval from the SFOHG Provincial Board. The centre was able to enter into partnership with the Timmins Public Library in May of 2006.

Research services are offered to its members residing in Timmins, Schumacher, South Porcupine, Porcupine and the Iroquois Falls area.

Research help:
Tuesday: 2pm to 4pm
Wednesday: 6pm to 7:45pm
Saturday: 10am to 12 noon
